Out of the 24 Universities in the Russell Group, York has been voted the 2nd worst.
The vote was created by the online The Tab, and lists all of the Russell Group universities. It describes their worst stereotypes and attributes, with the articles aim being to “insult everyone” before allowing the reader to choose their worst, and create conflict on the comment message boards.
The University of York has been attributed to the two things it is famous for: brutalism and ducks, and has therefore been described by suggesting “If you were to take the worst parts of every university and put them in a university-making machine, York would pop out. Truly the Frankenstein’s monster of university characteristics.”
Those at York have again been stereotyped and insulted “for those who weren’t ambitious enough for Oxbridge and tragically not smart enough for Warwick.”, and therefore jointly came in second with the University of Liverpool with 6.74% of voters choosing it as the worst.
On the other hand, Queen Mary London has overall been voted the worst with 8.63% of voters choosing it, with its description headlined “We honestly thought this was a sixth form college until we wrote this article”
Edinburgh University is so far the best, with 0.75% of voters choosing it as the worst, “but Edinburgh students are on a one-way train to a Swiss banking internship, skipping out their childhood on the way.”
Tom Morgan, a third year Politics student from York commented; “These comments are ridiculous and offensive, which is not surprising seeing as they come from The Tab. York is a fantastic place to study and I’d pick it over Warwick anyday!”
They neglected to mention that York has the worst looking girls I have ever seen. I’m not entirely sure where they even find these creatures. The Harry fair hurst is like a scene from ‘the hills have eyes’. The ducks are t that bad, is quite happily roger a duck over 99% of the girls
