Alt-rockers Luxo Jr. are some of the best of York’s musical talent, rising to prominence last year. Their single ‘Metal’ received over 5000 hits in 24 hours after they shared it last week.
Today they released the short album ‘Fingerpaints’. It’s an intriguing collage of sounds and influences, from metal riffs, to poppy beats and folk melodies. The luscious sound worlds Luxo Jr. create are catchy and engaging, while retaining intellect and musical interest.
Several other York students appear on the album as supporting musicians. It’s an inspired work, and serves as a testament to the constantly developing musical scene in York.
