YO1: What I’m Looking Forward To

Dan-Le-Sac-Vs-Scroobius-Pip-300

I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t most excited about Dans le Sac vs. Scroobius P.I.P. These 2 mavericks never fail to disappoint; exquisite witticism combined with brutal bass lines always bring a crowd alive. I’ve seen them more times than I care to remember and every gig is unique. Make sure you get down to the Night Vision Stage to see the man whose revolutionising spoken word.

Another good shout on the same stage is the Renegade Brass Band – if you’re looking for most instruments for your buck they’ll be blasting 8 horns, 2 percussionists, a scratch DJ and an MC. This jazz, hip-hop Sheffield-based group are being hailed as one of the best brass bands Britain has to offer and promise not to disappoint. In fact, if you’re a fan of jazz/hip-hop, which anybody with half an ear for music probably should be, make sure you hit up the Abstract Hip Hop Orchestra and The Mouse Outfit, bringing you a sumptuous assortment of reggae, soul, funk and jazz, they promise to prove it’s not all so grim up north.

Finally get involved with some of the most outrageous samples I’ve heard this year with Grinny Grandad. From the Beatles to ‘Monty Python and the Holy Grail’ they combine the most unreal references with old-school classics to create a brand of feel-good music that leaves you wanting more. However, inevitably with any festival it’ll always be the one you weren’t expecting that gets you. Whatever you want, they’ve got it. So get on down and let’s have some good ol’ fashioned fun ya’ll.
