Willow will take over a York nightclub, seeing the return of cheap alcohol and prawn crackers.
Ex-Willow DJ, ‘MadMax’ revealed ‘Willow Sunday Nights’ would take place in Fibbers, hosted by the DJ himself.
He also said he would be playing at ‘Willow Nights’ in Mansion every Monday and Wednesday.
Speaking to York Vision, MadMax said: “I’m very excited about the upcoming Willow Nights in York, and looking forward to the event!
“The Willow crowd has always been amazing, and I’m very happy that there are places in York where I can continue playing tunes for them.”
The Fibbers nights, starting from August 9, would see £1 shots, drinks for £2 and, of course, prawn crackers at the bar.
We asked York student Stephen Harper, who managed to bag the hanging sign in the post-Willow-closure giveaway, if he would consider renting the iconic sign out to Willow nights.
He said: “I’ve considered it. Will have to work out proper security measures though!”
Willow nightclub closed for the last time on Sunday July 27, which saw an incredible turnout to see the York clubbing legend off on its final night.
The nightclub was forced to shut after landlord Aviva gave them one month notice, under their ‘tenancy-at-will’ agreement, reportedly to make way for a new Clinton’s card shop.
York Vision has contacted the nightclubs Fibbers and Mansion for confirmation.
It’s just NOT W i l l o w
No one want to build a new Willow. Willow wasn’t just a building, it was hundreds of great people joined at one place.
