The Futureheads announced as first Summer Ball act

The-FutureheadsYUSU President Kallum Taylor announced today that the supporting act for the upcoming Summer Ball will be The Futureheads.

The Sunderland-based indie rock band has previously played at BBC Radio One’s Big Weekend, and has been awarded ‘Best Single of the Year’ by NME. Their most recent album, Rant, was nominated for the Artrocker ‘Album Of The Year’ award in 2012.

Thomas Hancock, a third year Politics student said: “The Futureheads are one of the few mid-noughties indie bands that don’t make me want to jab my eyes out. I’m excited to see them for what will now be an 8th time.”

The ball, which YUSU described as “The biggest event of the year”, will be located at the York Racecourse on the 19th June, and will include fairground rides, live music, food vans, five bars and a dance floor.

Last year’s Summer Ball acts included Feeder and Stooshe.

Tickets are on sale now at www.yusu.org/shop at £70 for the Graduation Dinner and Ball, and £35 for just the Ball.
