With Christmas approaching and the year drawing to a close, Vision Music thought it appropriate to compile a playlist of the best songs from the year. Debuts from the likes of Alt-J and Django Django sit alongside more established artists, where in some cases the creativity shown from the newcomers outshines some of the more popular tracks. Our Spotify playlist charts a vaguely organised countdown of the musical highlights of the year. Enjoy.

..Like anyone’s actually heard of your crappy music?
It is far too pretentious a list to take seriously to be honest.
To be fair to the author, I listened to Blue by First Aid Kit and liked it so much I listened to their whole album. Great band. Thank you.
I have few qualms with this list. It’s far better than Circulation’s anyway. Although I would have picked Firewater as my favourite Django Django song instead.
I’d have thought something from Grizzly Bear’s excellent Shields would feature. Woodkid’s Run Boy Run too, but a good list nonetheless.
