So this time next week, university will once more have begun and freshers’ week will be in full flow. Second and third years will be returning to the joys of university life, and all of you freshers will be starting to settle into your new surroundings and making some fabulous friends. Now there is no better way to help you with this process than by getting involved with activities at the university, such as different sports.
Over the next week Vision will be giving you the lowdown of what to expect from some of the main sports societies for the year ahead, and giving you all the information of how to get involved with sports from the very first whistle of university. We’ll be taking a trip back down memory lane to look at the best bits of last year, previewing the fantastic year of sport that lies ahead in the next twelve months, and advising you on how you can join the various societies during your first few weeks here at York.
If you’ve got any fears, worries or anxieties about getting involved with sport at university, then don’t have. When in ten years time you look back at your university life, then some of your fondest memories may well be recalling your experiences on the sports pitch doing your university proud, whether it be in Roses, Varsity, BUCS fixtures or much more.
Every single York student has the opportunity to be part of our sporting community. The message of London 2012 was “Inspire a generation”, hopefully it has inspired you to represent York. Whether you are a fantastic athlete, superstar footballer or just a budding sportsman or sportswoman, then sport at York is waiting just around the corner for you.
