Dozens of students and staff at the university gathered on Wednesday to protest against the detention of human rights activists in Egypt.
Students and professors from the University’s Centre for Applied Human Rights organised a demonstration to show their solidarity with the activists imprisoned in Egypt, many of whom are hunger striking in protest at their situation.
The demonstration was organised in conjunction with a larger protest rally taking place in London this Saturday.
The protest movement hopes to highlight the repression of the Egyptian people in addition to voicing support for release of political prisoners.
