Ms. Dynamite has been announced as the much anticipated third and final headliner of this year’s Big D.
The British singer-songwriter will join Dusky and Fenech-Soler as a headliner for the carnival themed event, which will take place on the 27th of June.
Ms. Dynamite is arguably most famous for her 2002 hits ‘Dy-na-mi-tee’ and ‘It Takes More,’ as well as featuring on DJ Fresh’s club hit ‘Gold Dust’ and Katy B’s ‘Lights On’. She is mooted to be releasing a new album in the near future.
The revelation was made to the crowd at the Big D Launch Night at Kuda, which hosted sets from Milli Vanilli, Tokyo, Bangers & Mash and Breakz DJs who will also play at Carnival’D.
Derwent Vice-Chair Ents, Chris Judge, told Vision: “We’re very excited to announce Ms. Dynamite as our final act. She’s known for making great music, and promises to be a great act! Bring on Big D 2013.”
Tickets for Carnival’D, which have sold out in less than 48 hours in previous years, will go on sale at 9am this morning from www.yusu.org/shop.
Good Luck not making another £7000 loss this year boys…
A new low for Big D. Was fantastic in my first year, not too bad last year and now this? Seriously? Have the Big D committee got no better options than a washed up ‘star’ who last released a top 10 hit over 10 years ago?! Fenech Soler are an average booking and I’m sure many haven’t even heard of Dusky.

Can vision please sort out their headlines,
@LOL – are you just the same sorry person who comments on all BigD articles with that figure? I’ve see it batted around a lot so asked one of the committee members, and they cracked up about how ridiculous that figure was and how it was never anywhere near that number. So where are you getting your facts from?
Being a Goodricke first year, I’m actually quite annoyed that my college doesn’t do anything like this. Other college really need to pick it up a little, because haters gonna hate on Derwent but at least there is something to hate on rather than no spirit or attractive events at all….
You must be a pretty big name for the committee to actually tell you all about last years finances then
It should have been called Ms. Big-Dynamite
If Derwent JCR have “cracked up” at how ridiculous the £7,000 figure is, why don’t they come out and correct it? The current Chair was Treasurer last year so you’d hope she’d know a thing or two.
Ms. Dynami-Big-D is definitely better than Ms. Big D-ynamite – hits perfectly with the song!
@Goodricker
Was told that figure by multiple JCR members, some of whom were at the post Big-D finances meeting…
And wot bruv, you startin?
The figure of £7,000 is incorrect
I think it’s a great lineup. Even if you don’t like the music, it’ll be a great atmosphere and a good send off for the summer.
They’ve done a good job to cater to all tastes!
They only sold 90 tickets on opening day… long gone are the days of crashing the YUSU website…
I can confirm the figure of £7000 is wrong. it was £6598.
@ Student
They’ve done a crap job of cateirng to tastes… RnB, electropop (whatever the fuck that is) and House music…
Anyone interested in normal pop or any sort of rock music has been completely ignored
