If you have an ice lolly maker, this will probably already have crossed your mind. If you don’t, you can snap one up from poundland for a quid! Why drink your alcoholic beverages when you can lick them and stay cool? You’ll also look like you’ve made a huge effort in front of your friends when you’ve actually just made some drinks and frozen them.
G&T
This is a classy one. Whack in a shot or five (depending on how many you are making/how drunk you want to get) of your fave/the most expensive gin you can afford, top up with tonic and sugar and if you are feeling REALLY classy, slice some lemon/cucumber/both reaalllly thinly and put them in to make it look pretty. Pour into lolly moulds and freeze.
PINA COLADA
The ultimate Summer classic, pretend you’ve jetted off somewhere hot by sharing these with friends in your garden. Get a paddling pool out and put your feet in it and pretend you’re on the beach. Use 3 parts rum, 1 part coconut cream/milk, 1 part cream and 1 part fresh lime juice. Mix this together and top up with pineapple juice. Use chopped fresh or canned pineapple to make it look tropically fabulous.
BELLINI
Channel sultry Italy with this fizzy little number. Puree a peach or two/buy peach juice or puree, top up with fizzy wine or prosecco depending on what you can afford. If you’re an Oxbridge reject from Charterhouse or Cheltenham Ladies’ College, you can probably splash out on champers. Stir together with ice, pour into lolly moulds and freeze overnight. Add chopped strawberries for a classy cocktail.
MINI-MILKYBAR KID
Our favourite cocktail at Dusk, now in cheeky cocktail form. Go back to your childhood with this little number. Mix 1 part Frangelico with 2 parts Vodka, 2 parts Kahula, 2 parts Bailey’s and mix together with a spoonful of cocoa powder, or a handful of milky bar buttons. Top up with milk and muddle together. Freeze overnight in lolly moulds.
THE WILLOW
Channel your favourite Chinese disco by mixing together Sambuca and Tequila. Top up with lemonade and mix in some crumbled prawn crackers and shame. Freeze overnight in ice lolly moulds. Consume at your own risk.
