Let’s face it, we’ve not had much to laugh about lately. Summer (that mythical concept) is hidden behind a wall of cloud, exam season is upon us and the library’s chronic lack of seating forces us to camp like refugees in the foyer, hunched over increasingly illegible notes. In short, right now you may be a pasty, nervous wreck with a bad back.
Well, luckily for you, your fortunes are set to change. Not only is the sun forecast to appear this week, but this Friday at 8pm the best comedians York University has to offer are also coming out in full force in Comedysoc’s biggest event of the year: Laughitude.
Showcasing the very best stand-up alongside a set from the pithy picadors of improv, The Shambles, Laughitude is a festival designed to put a smile on your face. It even takes place in the Lounge, so you can celebrate / commiserate a brilliant / awful first week of exams at the bottom of a cocktail glass.
“Laughitude is a great showcase for all the fantastic comedy that the society puts on” says Ian Angell, Chair of Comedysoc and Shambles Director. “Whether it’s the audience suggestion-driven unpredictability of The Shambles’ improvised comedy, the witty and bizarre realm of the many brilliant sketches our members write and perform, or our wide variety of hilarious stand ups, there’s sure to be something at this event that will have you chuckling the night away”
Tickets are £4 for Comedysoc members or £5 for non-members and are available from Vanbrugh Stalls on Wednesday and Friday from 12pm-2pm or the GSA office in Wentworth.
Stalls is 12-2, not 2-5.
Hello ‘Hello’,
Apologies for the typo, it’s now been amended. Thanks for letting us know.
