Last night saw Joshua Lee elected as the new Chairperson of Alcuin College, as the outgoing Communications Officer secured 193 votes to comfortably overcome his rival candidate, first year Alex Bassick who obtained 68 votes. Lee’s policies included increasing social life within the College, by maintaining weekly socials and organising trips to neighbouring cities, as well as pushing the importance of social media.
Lee and his fellow successful candidates can be encouraged by a significant increase in voting figures in comparison to previous years, which signal greater interest into the running of the college, a fact reiterated by the notion that more candidates stood for election this year.
Beth Campbell was elected as the new vice-chairperson for welfare and support receiving more votes than Alex Ray, whilst Charlotte Russell steps into the role of vice-chairperson for business and entertainments. Furthermore Barbara Grant was victorious over Tiffany Deans-Green in the battle to become secretary.
