Tributes have been pouring in for Tom Lynch, a graduate of Langwith College, who tragically died in a skiing accident on Tuesday afternoon.
Reports indicate that Tom collided with a snow-making cannon in the Alps resort of Val D’Isere, where he was working as a holiday rep.
Tom graduated from the University last summer with a degree in Economics and is best remembered for his time in Langwith, where he was a much loved and extremely popular figure.
Since his death was revealed to his friends through his Facebook profile, hundreds of tributes have come in remembering Tom, and grieving his untimely death. Some particularly close friends of Tom spoke to Vision about their memories of him:
“Tom was a guy who you could take at face value, just a genuinely nice person who really loved living life to the fullest. He lived for his friends.” – Andy Heppel – Graduated Langwith College 2011.
“Great friend, such a gent and a legend. Always had time for friends, and will be missed by all. It’s truly an honour to call him a mate.” – Andy Green – 3rd Year Langwith Student.
“Tom was one of the people that defined and lived for the spirit and togetherness that comes with Langwith college, he lit up every room he was in with laughter. Was a great man and a better friend.” – Tom Parker – Graduated Langwith College 2011.
“One of the most funny, genuine people I’ve met. He treated everyone he met with the same lively openness but more than anything he was a brilliant friend.” – Tim Bierley – 2nd Year Langwith Student.
“He was one of the most genuine people I have met. He lived for his friends in the time that I knew him and nothing was too much to ask. I echo the feeling that he lit up every room with laughter and I felt priviledged to have known him and called him a mate.” – Laurence Chetwynd – Graduated Langwith College 2011.
The Corner Room in Langwith College is being left open for those who wish to pay their respects to Tom through written messages, flowers and photographs.
Our thoughts are with Tom’s family and friends at this time.
