Graeme Osborn is running for re-election this year. As he explains in his manifesto, last year as ‘Academic Officer,’ he helped cement plans for the 24 hour library, which will now be starting in September this year. He got us “faster feedback” by “working with individual departments to ensure this deadline (of 6 weeks) is met” and lastly, he mentions “better quality teaching” at “every level”, including “several hundred thousand pounds being allocated for new teaching staff in departments with poor student-staff ratios and extra training for post-graduates who teach.”
This year he pledges “electronic submission of assessment”, to save “printer credit costs”and “preventing students from having to re-submit work if it goes missing” as well as, “investment in teaching spaces” including “purpose-built teaching spaces designed for the teaching requirements of the 21st century” and finally “earlier exam timetables.”
Speaking to Vision, he also said he would focus on York employability, which he beleives is “especially important” as “the University has very poor figures for an institution of York’s reputation and quality.”

As the incumbent, Osborn has last year’s successes propping up his campaign. Whilst students might not actually be that worried about squandering printer ink on their essays, Osborn has a good track record and a clear plan for the future.
Just to clarify the library will be open 24/7 for all of Summer Term as well, before opening 24/7 all year round from September.
Grame Osborn was at the Living Wage discussion in Commmunity Assembly. Brought up a sceptical point about it and walked out right before the vote. Obviously not an important issue for him.

The point that I made was clarifying the relationship between YUSU and YUSU Commercial Services, and I left because I had another engagement which I could not get out of. I actually signed the petition this morning at Vanbrugh Stalls.
