If you’re the next Bradley Wiggins or Chris Froome, then get in the spirit for the Tour de France with the Tour de Tang Hall.
Taking place on Sunday 15 June, the free event is in celebration of the Tour de France, as well as a way of bringing local communities together. Local residents taking part in the event will visit three community activity sites and collect a wristband. Those that complete the route will be given a certificate and a key ring, as well as the opportunity to enter other competitions.
Sally Burns, director of communities and neighbourhoods at City of York Council, talking to York Press said; “It’s great that communities are entering the spirit and holding their own celebrations locally.” She added that participants can “cycle, walk, scoot or toddle the circular route” and that the event would be “fun” and “a great opportunity”.
On 6 July 2014, York is hosting Stage Two of The Tour de France Grand Départ. The race will set off from York Racecourse and pass through the city of York, before heading to Sheffield via Harrogate and Huddersfield.
