Events organisers York Parties have signed a lucrative sponsorship deal with The University of York’s College Sport association to provide members with exclusive cards.
A deal was reached between College Sport administrators and the events coordinators which allows participants in College Sport to acquire a card entitling them to queue jump and discounted entry to three popular club venues across York.
Administrators hope the agreement will provide a financial boost to the College Sport system, enabling them to push forward new planned developments to College Sport.
Importantly, each time a card is used, College Sport will receive 50p from York Parties, providing a valuable source of income over the duration of the academic year.
Though difficult to place an estimate on exactly how much income the deal will bring to College Sport, YUSU Sport President Cassandra Brown was pleased with the outcome, stating: “I’m thrilled with the new college sport sponsorship deal. If advertised and utilised properly, College Sport could end up with a lot of money to put back into things like equipment and coaching.”
And College Sport Officer David Washington added: “We are delighted to have signed this deal with York Parties, and thoroughly believe it will be mutually beneficial. We believe it will help students add more to the social side of College Sport, whilst providing us with funds to push forward in the coming months.
“Over the course of the year, money will be re-invested into the College Sport system, and we hope that all students will feel the benefits of the steps forward that we are taking.”
The cards will bear a similar appearance to their University Sport counterparts. An estimated 1,500 will be made available to College Sport participants this week, priced at £1 each. If the initial batch prove popular, it is understood that more will be made available.
Bearers of the cards will have to access to queue jump at Salvation Wednesdays, Kuda Tuesdays and Revolution Sundays, as well as 50p off the advertised entry prices. In addition, those who arrive before 11.00pm will be entitled to a free shot upon arrival.
