College Netball 1sts: Alcuin 33-8 Goodricke

Alcuin 1sts stormed to a momentous 33-8 victory against a bewildered Goodricke side in their first match of the season this afternoon in the tent.

The Alcuin team looked confident from the beginning with fluent passing and movement up court and great communication between their players.

The first half demonstrated the strength of the experienced Alcuin team and how their regular training sessions had paid off. First year, Tanya, as WD played a superb first half, feeding the balls in confidently to the attacking Alcuin team who were relentless in their goal scoring. The first half ended 17-3 to Alcuin and it appeared there was no way back for the Goodricke team.

Alcuin’s centre court stepped up in the second half with their centre Catherine Mahony dominating play. The Alcuin girls carried the ball assertively down to the shooting circle, timing their movement and passing to create some rather impressive set plays.

The Goodricke side pulled back a few goals in the second half with the fantastic shooting of their GS. However, the killer Alcuin defence remained tight and determined.

The final score ended 33-8, a wonderful result for Alcuin 1sts who look to be a difficult team to oppose. Goodricke 1sts meanwhile will be looking to recover next week, from what was a difficult start to the season.
