Langwith 2nds are set to become the second side to suffer a points deduction in this year’s College Cup.
For the second time in two matchdays, no referee was provided for a match, and on this occasion it was the fault of Langwith’s second string. College Cup rules outline that teams not involved in the group in which a match is played must provide referees to officiate the games – which Langwith failed to do.
The deduction of two points pulls the fifth place side in Group C down to just one point, stripping away the majority of the points gained in their 2-1 win against Wentworth 3rds in Week 4.
Langwith will not be offered the chance to appeal the decision, as stated in the rules of the Cup outlined at the beginning of the tournament.
