Away We Go

Dear Vision,
I love living in York but I always reach a point in the term when I feel a change of scenery is needed. Thankfully, our small but perfectly formed Viking city has excellent travel links, both road and train, meaning its perfect for exploring the joys of Yorkshire and beyond.

Now we’re all free from the shackles of revision, it’s time to reward yourself with a well earned day off.
Here’s Vision’s guide to what’s happening in sunny Yorkshire!

Greetings from Harrogate…

The cute Spa town is only a short train ride away and hosts it’s very own Roman Baths and Spa. Perfect if you’re looking for a Post exam de-stress.
The branch of Betty’s provides a home-from-home for us Yorkies too!

Leeds…

Perfect for when you’re up to your ears in student loan, Leeds is a consumer’s paradise with an array of shops to suit every style. It boasts a number of stores that York continues to be deprived of, such as Primark and Urban Outfitters, so it’s the perfect opportunity to pick up something a little different that will have all your seminar buddies swooning!

Vintage offerings come in the shape of Pop Boutique and Blue Rinse, which are crammed with retro beauties from yesteryear.

For the fashionistas, Harvey Nichols is a must! The beauty hall itself stocks brands that aren’t available in York, a pilgrimage to the MAC counter is a must!

It also offers an eclectic nightlife and with trains running to and from York all night, you can turn your back on Ziggy’s just once!

Whitby…

Drenched in historical beauty and with your usual dollop of tacky seaside resort thrown in for good measure. Shops are bursting with the town’s famous sticks of rock and sweets which will test the will power of even those with the sweetest of teeth.

The Abbey is well worth the trek up the 199 steps to get a closer look of the Gothic remains of the monastery. Whitby is lined with golden sands which, although aren’t paired with a Caribbean climate, still provide a change of scenery and the ideal opportunity to catch some sea air.
Indulging in a pile of fish and chips compliments the seaside experience perfectly!
