Who Needs London Fashion Week When You’ve Got YFW?

York Fashion Week got off to an exciting start last night, and Vision were lucky enough to be there!

Last night at 7:30, York Vision was queuing excitedly outside of the Guildhall waiting for the Indie Retail: The Runway show to start!

As we entered into the courtroom outside of the Guildhall, we were handed a glass of free (!) prosecco. What better start could there have been? Right in the centre of the courtyard was a Gary James McQueen Bentley. Naturally we took a few photos so we could pretend it was ours. What else could you do?!

We then took our seats after walking through a very Instagram-able leafy archway.

Christina Alexandra, presenter, DJ, designer and opera singer, hosted us. Giving a very warm welcome she declared her “deep passion for fashion” and prepared us to celebrate the “grass roots and independent designs” we were about to see.

We were warned that we might be joined by a small friend. After exchanging a few concerned looks, we were informed that a small (but noisy) drone would be accompanying the show!

And then the show began!

Dog & Bone Vintage

First up was Dog & Bone Vintage. Located on Castlegate in York, Dog & Bone prides itself on having carefully sourced vintage fashion. The night was certainly opened with a bang! Each look was carefully crafted and the model’s energy set the tone for the night.

Master Debonair

Advertising itself as being ‘for the sophisticated gent’, Master Debonair showed some stunning suits. The models strutted around the catwalk each dressed in their finery.

YFW

York Fashion Week’s merch made an appearance on the catwalk as well. It calls itself the first collection to celebrate the biggest fashion event in the north of England. The merch was certainly entertaining with puns such as ‘New York Fashion Week’ written on the shirts.

Nenya

Next up was the fabulous collection sourced and distributed by desinger Yana Smaglo. The collection of luxury fashion from Ukrainian brands certainly livened up the show.

House of Zana

These stunning designs were created by an all female team in the Northeast. Labelling themselves sustainable and ethical kimonos and resort wear, the designs certainly stunned the audience. The models added to designs with their fabulous performance.

Palenque

And finally, the night was ended with Palenque. The jewellery brand is known for their use of colour and texture. This elegant collection is called Maya. The night was ended on a high as the outfits displayed took our breath away.

Thank you York Fashion Week for a wonderful evening. Events are continuing all through the weekend and we can’t wait to see what is next!
