YUSU and York Parties have released details of their four weekly Official Club Nights for this academic year.
Ziggy’s, which used to be Mansion until its closure in 2019, will host a new ‘Sneaky Disco’ event on Thursday nights, filling the night previously hosted by Fibbers until its closure in January 2020.
For the first time, YUSU and York Parties are hosting two official LGBTQ+ club nights in Weeks 4 and 8 each term in Flares, to be arranged with the LGBTQ+ officers and network.
YUSU has also confirmed that other York Parties nights will continue, with Kuda Tuesdays hosted by the venue’s new owners, and Wednesday night’s event returning to Salvation, which YUSU say was a particular popular venue in their student survey.
The weekly club calendar will end with the return of Sunday nights in Revolution.
YUSU Activities Officer Sophie Kelly said: “We hope this blend of old favourites, such as Salvos on a Wednesday, and new venues and content will get students excited about returning to the dancefloor and getting back into the city. We can’t wait to see you all there!”
The announcement follows criticism of YUSU’s exclusive Official Club Nights deal with York Parties, with Sophie Kelly speaking exclusively to Vision to respond to students’ concerns.
