York McDonald’s staff contacted the police shortly after 6:30pm on Saturday for assistance with a suspected assault at the fast food restaurant on Blake Street.
Video footage has been shared on social media of a female McDonald’s customer being punched in the face and dragged across the floor, towards the exit, by a security guard.
As the woman claws at the officer’s legs to get herself off the ground, he shouts, “off you go” and begins to drag her to the door.
While on the ground, he is seen kicking the woman repeatedly in the side. One customer is heard asking “is she out cold?”
The woman has not been named, but a female in her thirties was arrested on suspicion of assault at shortly after police attended.
Following interview, she has since been released pending further investigation.
A man in his twenties voluntarily attended a police station in response to the same incident.
McDonald’s have launched an investigation into the assault, and the security officer has been taken off duty.
A spokesperson for McDonald’s has said: “We have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to violence or abuse of any kind.”
“The individual in question works for an external security company and will not be on duty at any of our restaurants while we carry out a full investigation into this incident.”
