The University of York has confirmed that payments to recipients of the York Bursary will not change due to COVID-19.
An email sent to a student who asked about whether their payments would be affected by the virus told them that to “expect it to be paid to your bank account as planned on the date specified on your bursary confirmation letter”. The move from the university will be one welcomed by many students who receive the York Bursary, which gives students from low-income households a non-repayable bursary of £2000 in the first year, and up to £1,100 for every other year a student is at the university.
The University has been contacted for comment.
