Tributes have been paid to third year Goodricke student Ethan Peters, whose body was recoverd from the River Foss over the weekend.

Ethan’s close friends have been posting pictures and memories of the film and TV student, who died at age 20.

“Will always remember our antics at house party and how we dragged you to that JME concert,” one friend posted.

“You will always be my friend and brother.”

Another wrote: “I don’t even know what to say. Such a lovely guy and will be missed by so many, my thoughts are with his family.”

Police had been searching for Ethan, a member of the University Officer Training Corps, for five days before an underwater team found his body.

Hundreds of students shared a police appeal last week after it emerged he had gone missing following a night out at Revolutions nightclub.

Ethan was described as “a popular member of Goodricke College and the wider university community.”

Police said Ethan was “having a nice social night out” and was in a “good mood” on the night he went missing.

“Our thoughts are with Ethan’s family and we will do everything we can to support them at this very difficult time,” said DI Jackie Smart.

“We would like to thank the members of the public and the media who have supported the appeal.”
