Manifesto Points:
- The total package – S&C, injury prevention, psychological skills training, wellbeing support, nutrition advice and recovery guidance.
- Working in unison – a fresh start.
- Equal opportunities – nobody left behind.
Hi, I am Millie, and I want to become your next York Sport Officer! I am running for this role with a genuine intent to make a difference, and a passion for sport here at York. In the last three years I have represented the Women’s University football club as Press & Publicity Officer and Wellbeing Officer, and made history by pioneering, and managing, the first ever women’s college sport team for Roses (ending with a well-deserved win!) I am also the current student representative for the Psychology Department, which has helped me gain valuable insight into the structure of the University. Together, we can prove that York is a sports university.
I will:
INTRODUCE BETTER, SAFER SPORT AT YORK
A more creative solution is necessary to ensure that students are provided with the ‘full sports package’ – I will put YOU first. I propose a centralised online programme, providing key information to every sports team. This forum will include: a sports specific strength & conditioning programme, for each student to use in their own time; an injury prevention programme, to keep everyone safe; sports psychology advice, because 85% of our performance is psychological; nutrition advice; specific recovery/rehabilitation advice for common injuries, and wellbeing support.
ACHIEVE A MORE COLLABORATIVE SPORTS SYSTEM
My second priority will be to create a system where every college and university sports club can benefit from one another. To do this, every sports team will attend a semesterly meeting, attended by executive committee members, where every club’s strengths are highlighted, allowing all sports clubs to work in unison. This will allow for greater transparency, a better understanding of the structure of sport at York, and for each representative committee to get a head start before the season begins! The internal structure of each club will be discussed – facilities, training times, finances, sponsorships and extra training for committee roles – EVERY club will benefit from this advice!
PROVIDE EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES
Regardless of your background, sporting experience, race, gender, age, disabilities, sexual orientation and physique, sport IS for you. No barriers or discrimination will exist within the sporting community. I will ensure that every student at York has equal opportunities to participate in any sport of choice, starting with a student-led consultation – what sports do you want? I will ensure that college sports and non-conventional university sports do not feel, and are not, left behind. Since the merge of YUSU and the GSA (the Graduate Students’ Association), forming what we now know as YorkSU, it is necessary to conduct a full review of postgraduate sport, to increase participation and ensure that all students’ needs are met.
If you want a fresh start, a more rounded approach to sports life, and a York Roses win in 2026, vote Millie! #RosesAreWhite

What would be the theme song for your campaign i.e. Eye of the Tiger?
“Going The Distance”, Bill Conti (1976), Rocky
If your campaign had a mascot, what would it be?
A dog (simply because life is better with dogs)! They are always there when you need them.
If you could only play one sport for the rest of your life, what would you choose?
Football. For me, football is my life. I love being part of a team, a community and a family. It allows me to work on myself and help others at the same time, working towards a collective goal. It also provides me with the opportunity to reset my focus and brings out my more competitive side.
We gave the candidate a word, and asked them to think of what the question would be:
Answer: Rugby
Candidate Question: A tight-knit team that promotes growth and provides a strong social community, with a collective goal.
