York SU Elections 2025

York Vision brings you the latest news.

Manifesto Points:

  1. One of the things that I woukd like to focus on during my tenure (if elected) would be inclusivity. Any student, irrespective of their background, should be given a chance to express themselves through Sports.
  2. Carrying on from inclusivity, I have observed (please correct me if I am wrong), that there are few to no handicapped/disabled sport teams that I have heard of. I would like to express my support in creating opportunities for those people and also create an incredible platform for future students coming in.
  3.  I also believe in collective feedback from all students. These feedbacks will always help in improving the experience, sports wise. Because, everyone’s opinions matter, according to me, so that we can raise the standards of sports in the university, together.
  4. I would like to work very closely with university sports clubs and societies and also help improve the experience, if needed and as mentioned in the previous point, help raise standards.

Overall, I want to contribute in the best way in my capacity and give my maximum best in creating a positive impact in sports for this university in collaboration with all the colleges and societies, and of course, with other Sabb officer(s), if needed.

The manifestos appear here exactly as they were submitted to us. The views expressed in this article do not necessarily reflect the views of York Vision.

Don’t get us wrong, the York SU elections are very important. But so much of the election process is formal and serious…which means it can also (at times) be a little bit dull.

But we don’t think it has to be like this. So alongside their manifesto, Vision asked each candidate a series of light-hearted, get-to-know-you type questions. This should give you a little dive into the individual personalities of the candidates:

What would be the theme song for your campaign?

The Game – Motörhead

If your campaign had a mascot, what would it be?

A lion

If you could only play one sport for the rest of your life, what would you choose?

Cricket (even though it is difficult for me to choose because I play multiple sports)
