Proactive Support | Affordable Living | A Stronger Student Community

Why Vote for Me?

As a medical doctor and public health advocate, I have worked with migrants, mental health programs, and student support initiatives, helping people access the care they need. At York, I want to build a student wellbeing system that reaches out to students, rather than waiting for them to struggle alone.

My Priorities

Proactive Mental Health Support

  • Wellbeing Check-ins: Mid-semester check-ins (through a quick survey or chat with a trained staff member) to identify students who may need mental health support before reaching crisis point.
  • “Wellbeing on the Go” Spaces: Pop-up support spaces across campus where students can drop in informally to access mental health resources, relaxation activities, and peer support.
  • Easier Access to Professional Help: Reduce waiting times by pushing for more mental health staff and strengthening partnerships with external mental health organizations.

Affordable Living & Financial Wellbeing

  • York Housing Fairness Project: Ensure transparent and fair housing prices by launching a student-led review system, advocating for affordable on-campus options, and providing guidance on student housing rights.
  • Student Hardship Fund Expansion: Increase emergency financial aid and create clearer guidance for students in need.
  • Essential Living Discounts: Partner with local businesses for student discounts on food, and essentials.

A More Connected & Inclusive Student Community

  • Community Wellbeing Mentors: Train student volunteers to act as peer connectors, guiding students to the right resources.
  • Stronger Wellbeing Representation: Ensure student voices are central in university decision-making on mental health and wellbeing services.
  • Culturally Inclusive Support: Improve mental health services to be more inclusive for international students, marginalized groups, and postgraduates.

Why Me?

Public Health & Medical Background: I understand mental health, policy, and student wellbeing needs.
Advocacy & Leadership Experience: I have worked with migrant health programs, student support, and university initiatives.
Committed to Real Change: I want to make mental health support more accessible, living more affordable, and student life more inclusive.

Let’s Build a University That Takes Care of Its Students—Together!

What would be the theme song for your campaign?

Under Pressure, by Queen University life is full of pressure, and this song reflects how it feels when things get overwhelming. My goal is to ease that pressure through better mental health support, fairer housing, and a more understanding student experience.

If your campaign had a mascot, what would it be?

A friendly cactus : because it’s resilient, low-maintenance, and thrives in tough conditions. Just like students, it might look calm outside, but it’s surviving a lot – and still growing.

What is your go-to comfort show after a stressful day?

The Office: it’s the perfect mix of chaos and heart, and always helps me unwind. Watching the characters navigate their daily struggles (often hilariously) reminds me not to take life too seriously and to find joy in the little moments.

We gave the candidate a word, and asked them to think of what the question would be:

Answer: A long hug

Candidate Question: What’s the best remedy for a long day and a tired mind?
