Students at the University are being snubbed jobs – as Britain’s leading employers target more graduates from 20 other institutions.
New research by High Fliers shows that York has staggered in the rankings among the UK’s top 100 companies targeting graduates, coming in at 21st for a second year running.
Conducted in December 2013, the study found that Britain’s leading employers targeted more university leavers from Strathclyde, Southampton and Loughborough than they did from the University.
But surprisingly it wasn’t from Cambridge and Oxford where most eagle-eyed employers took on talent, as Nottingham and Manchester topped the list respectively.
Academic Registrar David Duncan told Vision: “We are very pleased that York continues to rank alongside Oxford, Cambridge and Imperial in the jobs market. York graduates are very able, highly competitive all rounders – exactly the qualities top employers are looking for.
“York’s position continues to strengthen as employers recognise our graduates’ high levels of employability.”
