York Apprentice To Give Away £50

The York Apprentice is to hold two publicity stunts tomorrow to raise awareness of their 2010 event.

The stunts will involve two stalls set up outside the Library and on Vanbrugh Paradise between 12 and 2pm. Students will be able to enter a quick mini challenge for free with the possibility of winning up to £50 instantly.

Speaking to Vision, York Entrepreneurs Co-President Matthew Freckelton said: “This is a great opportunity for the society to interact directly with students on a one-to-one basis, and also encourage students to think more about business and enterprise.

“It will be the perfect way to break up those busy revision sessions everyone has with a quick, fun and easy game and have the potential to win £50 in a single day.”

Vision can also reveal that Mike Southon, entrepreneur and author, will also be speaking during the main York Apprentice event. Southon is best known for his book The Beermat Entrepreneur and has had a successful career as a columnist, speaker, author and businessman.

The full event will occur during Week 7 of this term with a launch event to be held on the 7th June (Monday of Week 7) that will include an official opening by Richard Watson, Sherriff of York. This follows visits to the university by other city officials to attend Prince Andrew’s opening of Goodricke College earlier this term.

Applications to the York Apprentice are open until the 31st May, with the grand prize totalling £1200. This year’s event follows last year’s successful enterprise which led to £3300 pounds being raised for local charity ‘The Newlife Foundation’.

  1. Just to clarify David, except for when print articles are posted online, our most recent stories always reside at the top of the news section. There is no implication of it being a ‘top’ story.
