It’s Wednesday, and that can only mean one thing…it’s time to do some wardrobe wishing and drool over some of TWU’s fashion finds of this week!
Being on a student budget (which I struggle to stick to at the best of times), when I saw this Paul Smith maxi dress on the Coggles website I decided it was the perfect addition to any summer wardrobe wishlist – after all, a girl can dream! The colours are bright and summery and the fragrant floral design is feminine, giving a different take on the typical flowery maxi dress. The sunlight effect on the dress gives it a hazy summer glow and the muted but elegant colours mean it can be styled with almost any accessories = a new look every time.
If you’re looking for a floral pattern for nighttime glamour (or seaside romance) then try out this super-sexy bodycon dress from Lipsy London. You’re sure to catch everyone’s eye walking into a club wearing this, and the high neckline means you’re rocking risque without breaking the golden ‘legs or boobs’ rule of fashion. The ripple fabric pattern mixed with the changing flower colours also nods to the ‘clashing patterns’ trend seen on the catwalks of D&G and Mary K this year and at £45 – how can you resist?!
I’ve been searching for a clutch bag for quite some time now; after my old trusty decided to break on me every time I dare use it for its primary function and put something inside it. However, this jewelled party box clutch bag from Zara immediately caught my eye. It’s sparkly enough to satisfy any girls’ needs and yet still manages maintains a tone of subtlety and class. The colours are also completely neutral, meaning that it’s possible to add a little glittery glamour to any outfit!
Quirky and versatile, this animal stud waist belt from ASOS is the perfect addition to liven up any outfit. The animal detailing is super cute and provides a lively and individual take on the classic tan belt. At only £18 this belt is an absolute steal and is sure to update your wardrobe in a wild way.
And for the boys…
Boys and shorts are a combination that I struggle to come to terms with; (images of riotous school-boys and hideous Bermuda shorts spring primarily to mind) but these slim fit shorts from Jack Wills have helped me come round to the idea. The colours are bright, unusual, and the simple design and fit of the shorts mean that anything can be teamed with them; meaning they can be dressed up or down for summer chic no matter what the occasion!
P
ewwww Lipsy is yucky. That’s what Tulisa from NDubs/X-factor wears.
You should do a piece that focuses on local designers in York.
Thanks for your suggestion – we’d love to do something on local designers! The dress was chosen not necessarily for it’s ambassadors but for the style and relevance to current trends.
