In addition, an announcement by the Arts and Humanities Research Council reported that a York-led bid for PhD studentships was ranked ahead of Oxford, Cambridge and the London colleges, making it the highest in the UK.
David Duncan, Registrar and Secretary, commented, “We can make a strong claim that York is the best place in the UK to study for a PhD in the arts and humanities”.
The 25 teaching departments have been asked by the Vice-Chancellor of teaching and learning to analyse their results and develop action plans where necessary.
