York has been shortlisted for three 2013 Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards (THELMAs).
The shortlisted institutions have now been officially unveiled, and the winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Thursday 20 June.
The University has been nominated and shortlisted for Outstanding ICT initiative of the year, Outstanding Finance Team, and Outstanding Library Team.
York will compete against universities such as Exeter, Durham and Birmingham for the titles, while other THELMAs for which York were not shortlisted include the Student Admissions Team, Student Services Team and Outstanding International Strategy.
The news comes after the University won the Times Higher Education Award for Outstanding Support for Early Career Researchers with its Research Leaders programme in 2011, which aims to improve the take-up of professional development activities.
And in 2010 York was named University of the Year at the Times Higher Education Awards, with now-outgoing Vice-chancellor Brian Cantor collecting the award at a ceremony in London, attended by over 1000 members of the higher education community from around the country.
University Registrar David Duncan is “delighted” that York has been shortlisted for the three awards, telling Vision: “The University has been shortlisted for the top equal number of shortlistings for any University in the UK. The ICT initiative is the student employability module, which has seen a huge take up by first-year students and is a key part of our efforts to improve the career prospects of York students. Likewise, the shortlisting of the Library Team reflects the very high standing of the library among students. We wish the best of luck to all our finalists at the awards event on 20 June.”
