Bio
What’s the most important part of your manifesto?
The most important of our manifesto is probably taking promotion beyond Facebook and back onto campus. All of the events this year, and especially during RAG week, have been amazing, however with earlier and more personal and physical publicity without a main focus on Facebook, there might have been a higher attendance and so even more money raised.
How do you differ from the other candidates?
I think we differ from the other candidates not only in our awesome duo-ness but also in our experience. We have a combined knowledge of RAG and how it works, promotion and organization – all of which make a huge difference in planning for RAG in the next year.
What was your favourite thing the previous officer did and why?
Sarah:
With the change to the RAG beneficiary system, Beth and Kate have really made the best of our ability to fundraise for lots of charities. Focusing fundraising for events and colleges at a specific charity has really helped and we’ve been able to support even more charities with raids. They work incredibly hard and if we can be half as good as them then we’ll be amazing RAG officers!
Georgia:
Well, not to sound cheesy or anything, but I really admire how much work they have put into RAG. They have very much poured their hearts and souls into the job. If we could put as much dedication as they have into RAG, we will be able to fulfil all of our targets, I am sure.
What’s the most important thing about the role you are going for?
Sarah:
Agreed! Having a great time should be a central part of RAG and will help us to get more and a wider variety of people involved.
Georgia:
I think the most important thing is to have fun. If you are having fun, then the committee will, and therefore, the better the events will be!
How are you campaigning?
Well I wouldn’t turn down the chance to cover campus in cardboard, and of course, there is the good old trusty Facebook page, but primarily, I think talking to people is still the best way to get your message out there!
What do you like the most about York?
Sarah:
Beyond my course I agree with Georgia that the best thing about York is the colleges providing more opportunities to get involved in more things at different levels. Also you can’t beat York’s cheesy night life; rotating dance floors and free prawn crackers, what’s not to like?
Georgia:
What isn’t there to love about York?! I love the campus, the town, even being chased by geese… My course is great, and I have a great group of friends! But if I had to choose one thing, it would probably be the colleges. Community spirit and inter-college competition create a whole different experience to other universities. It also creates more opportunities for participating in the organisational aspect of the university without it being on a campus wide level.
What’s the best slogan you can think of for your campaign?
“Raise it, give it, do it, make us Bigger, Better, Bolder, Stronger”
What do you think about York Vision?
A key part of campus. University of York would not be the University of York without the Nouse/Vision rivalry!
LOVE IT!!!
