Roses preview: trampolining

The club is going into this year’s Roses with masses of confidence having competed in far more events than previous years. The team has performed outstandingly throughout the season picking up medals at each NEUT (Northern English Universities Trampolining) League competition attended and at both BUCS and Varsity.

Most recently at the Liver Cup held at the University of Liverpool the club won 3 medals, Jack Goodfellow picking up a gold, Sarah Elliot coming in 2nd place and Rebecca Pedley and Katie Birmingham achieving bronze in synchronised trampolining. Over easter the club participated at ISTO (Irish Student Trampoline Open) which was held in Belfast and came 3rd which meant we were the top English University that took part.

This year the club aims to dominate at Lancaster with many more members entering than any previous year and hope to make it the first win at Roses for York and bring home the 4 points up for grabs. The internal prediction is that York win every skill category and therefore win the whole competition.Last year Roses turned out to be a close match with Lancaster narrowly beating York, after two injuries to the Lancaster team in the intermediate category we hope this year runs without any glitches and without injury.

Players to watch:
Rebecca Pedley who will compete in elite has placed 1st or 2nd in each competition she has attended this year and came 1st last year in her category at Roses.
Sarah Elliot who will compete in Intervanced has been in the top 3 in each competition she has competed in this year, this will be Sarah’s first Roses and we expect she will set the bar high.
