Calvin Harris is touring. Following ventures slightly away from the turntables, Calvin has put his record label to one side, stopped counting the $46 million he purportedly made in 2013 and dusted off his disks. The tour hits Belfast and London before heading up north to Manchester and Glasgow and comes at a good time.
Following the 2009 chart saturator Ready for the Weekend, an album that holds the all time record for most top ten singles with 9 and 2012’s 18 months, Harris has been quiet in terms of solo work and incredibly noisy with others. Writing and producing for artists including Kylie, Dizzee Rascal and Rihanna, the sheen of the good life has kept Harris away from doing what he does best; putting pineapples on his head and making A-grade disco/pop music. Already armed with a plethora of hits and the capacity for stage dramatics, odds on the upcoming dates will see Harris fuse the old with the new, offer a glimpse of the future and give a platform to some of his innumerable collaborations.
