The University announced yesterday the opening of the new York Sport Olympic sized outdoor velodrome on Hes East Campus, two months later than planned.
Originally scheduled for completion to coincide with the visit of the Tour de France through Yorkshire, additional works meant that it is only now that the £1.1 million pound venture could be opened. Funding for the project was raised through Sport England and British Cycling, alongside the University.
Open to both the Public and students, the new 250 metre long Oval track is situated next to the existing road-racing circuit at the University of York Sports Village.
