  1. Loving the observation by Adam ‘caustic wit’ Coe. Having said that as the biggest venue on campus, if the capacity of Central Hall is to little where else are we going to go?

  2. “Liam has worked a lot with LGBT but has yet to work with disability” – not quite true. Sorry for implying this!

I have done some work with Disability committee here before, am involved in n Disability activism online and have some contacts in York and beyond working on disability issues. Just compared to my work around LGBT issues, I’ve done a lot less activism on disability so far.

It is hugely important and revelant to note that I am a student with disabilities – I may not have done much to change things here on campus but I have lived through the best part of a degree here as a student with disabilities and I know what struggles I encountered.

  3. Adam Coe is an absolute God, and if he were here right now, I actually don’t know what I’d do. He’s like a British Justin Beiber. Only legal.

  4. What’s with the random phat beatz in between hard-hitting interviews? This is the coolest radio I’ve ever heard.

  5. While Editor Dan Goddard is getting VERY angry at the musical interludes (“GET ON WITH IT URY!”) the rest of the Vision team are loving the Tinie Tempah, and are getting Down And Dirty. But that might be because our floor really needs vacuuming…

  6. “Laura Cress is now with the panel of experts and Milana”
    LOL
Milana can’t be an expert, she has truly atrocious taste in crisps.

  7. I’m gutted Osborn isn’t there. His received pronunciation and dulcet tones are like no other. His policies are pretty good too.

  8. I’m very concerned about the policies of the unopposed RAG Officers.

Asking anyone in the know and they’d’ve realised how expensive events are to run, also how little the events in RAG Week made.

RAG at York has for too long had a focus on late licence events, other more successful RAGs have a far more creative and diverse range of activities which actually raise money!

I wish they were opposed by some credible candidates and hope they get their act together quickly!

  9. Met Lydia on moving in day and she seemed nice. She gave us a great Freshers Week aswell (Artful Dodger AND a Roller Disco!).

Hope she wins, looks like she’s got tough competition though.

    Up the Fax!

  10. Quietly impressed by Lydia.

Great speech on Thursday and some good answers today.

Aaron, Charlie and Tim will have to be on form to stop her.

I hope she wins so we have at least one woman in next years sabb team!!!

  11. I hope someone asks Rowley why he thinks he was allowed to run having missed the deadline for nominations to be submitted…

Firstly, we really like your name, and secondly, we’re really sorry you feel this way.

Baxter & I are quite aware of the expense big events take to hold. Our collective experience have seen us working on College balls, respective college Freshers Week events and Big D. We are looking to work with ents committee, and appreciate that their experience will supplement our endeavours.

What I would like to say is that our emphasis is on ONE big event being planned for Autumn event, as Spring and Summer see RAG Week and Woodstock. We have spoken to YSTV and commercial services about some ideas involving central hall. This would not involve a late license. Furthermore, we want to see to it that these events are thoroughly planned, with our ents representatives getting better training and hopefully sitting on the ents committee (or simply attending their open meetings).

I think it’s unfair to discredit the hard work, especially that of Suzy & Charli, that went into seeing the most prosperous RAG Week in recent years, with the committee actually raising over £7000 for our sponsored charities. But, as we say, it’s something that we can work on, to raise bigger amounts during this time.

Our focus on events is not actually solely based on late license events, we want to see lots of smaller “raids” spring up around campus. In fact, having completely lacked these rep positions for the past year, this term’s new arrivals have done a fantastic job here and there; selling cakes, making bags, etc. As we said, the little things that make RAG charming are just as important, if not more. What we want to promote, especially to Freshers, is the fun aspect of RAG, and we fully accept that this will take a bit of creative. I apologise if we put this across in the wrong way.

  13. Looks like Rebaxter just smashed it with comment 23. Well said!

Echoing the respect for this years RAG Committee who are still doing a great job!!

  14. The RAG guys (Rebaxter) this year will be amazing!! If someone is worried about their ability then they should have gone up for the position. As far as I can tell they have the support of the current RAG committee and they wouldn’t have this support if they were not up for the job!!

  15. @DJ A

Whilst I agree the RAG team are good, I don’t think you can say “If someone is worried about their ability then they should have gone up for the position.” – I’d make a terrible Ents rep, but I still doubt their ability. It doesn’t mean I have to make a better rep, but I think someone could.

  16. He’s seems like such a nice & approachable guy plus he’s got the right policies & attitude. Plus, who can forget… “everyone can be a BNOC”… n’awww!

  17. How was Chris Etheridge allowed to be an expert when

    A) He is anything but.
    B) He’s publically endorsing a candidate (Rowley)?

  18. @Impartial:

I actually don’t think anybody can be classed as an expert on campus Politics since the whole experience is different for everyone. However, what you cannot deny is that I have quite a bit of experience of campus Politics having been involved since my first year.

With regards to my opinions; I was asked to give an honest opinion on the candidates and I did so. I don’t see any point in a panel being asked to give their thoughts on matters if they are not allowed to say anything other than generic and boring observations.

Finally, I may be wrong, but the tone of your reply suggests to me that your comment stems from a personal dislike of me. I don’t actually mind what you think of me, but if that is why you posted the comment, it seems a little immature. I might have a personal dislike of you, but I would never suggest banning you from contributing in a debate.

    Best wishes

    Chris Etheridge

  19. @RAG Lover:

I find your comments incredibly frustrating and want to say that they do not represent the views of RAG. Negative and poorly researched comments such as your might be a reason why certain candidates are unopposed, as people get put off running for a time consuming voluntary position that comes with the hassle of anonymous comments such as yours. If you love RAG so much why not push on and help the committee rather than try and slate prospective new officers.

RAG at York is getting better every day, our RAG week totals have nearly doubled this year. I encourage any student to get involved with RAG either in the committee elections at start of next term or just turning up to our meetings. I always think we can do better but we should be positive on the amount we have been raising and use it as a spring broad to raise even more next year :)
