Lancaster have won Roses 2016, after crossing the threshold of 176 points. It is now mathematically impossible for York to catch up. As sport continues today, Lancaster will lift the Carter James Trophy this evening.
York have won several incredible victories so far this weekend, destroying Lancaster in Women's 1st Football 7-0 on Friday night, and smashing the opposition to finish 28-1 in Women's Lacrosse.
Other York victories include 1st and 3rd Squash, a clean 4-0 sweep in Cheerleading, and a 5-0 win in Women's 2nd Hockey.
Lancaster won by narrow margins in Women's and Men's Swimming, and achieved a 7-2 victory in Women's Tennis. In an incredible game of Women's Basketball, Lancaster won 54-35 even after an electrifying third quarter fightback from the York side.
The original points threshold of 179 was lowered to 176 after the cancellation of several events.
The final score of Roses still rests on today's events including Rugby, Frisbee, and Men's 1st Basketball.
Last year York won Roses on home turf 227.5-141.5.
