Kukri have been announced as the York Sport Union’s new kit supplier. The two year deal after a tendering process will see the Preston based firm become the official recognised supplier of kit and leisurewear to all York Sport teams, replacing Surridge who were criticised by some clubs for lengthy delays in delivery.
York Sport Union President Cass Brown praised Kukri, saying: “During the tender process we were able to negotiate the best possible prices with Kukri as well as acknowledging the quality of the kit that Kukri pride themselves on, resulting in our decision to choose them. They are highly experienced in this market, catering for many universities including Loughborough, they have delivered excellent high quality service to institutions for years.”
Another feature that pleased Brown was the ‘kit designer’ feature that allowed sports clubs to individually tailor their designs on the Kukri website around York’s ‘Black and Gold’ design allowing greater flexibility for clubs to use their own designs and club image without straying from the York Sport brand. Moreover the Kukri website also has club specific pages where clubs can order their personalised kit and have it delivered in two weeks, significantly simplifying and speeding up the ordering and delivery process.
Kukri are a multinational sportswear firm based in Preston formed in 1999, with a number of subsidiaries operating in other countries. In addition to providing University kit they provide kit to an number of international football sides including Austria, Ukraine and Norway and they have recently been named as the supplier of all team wear for the 2014 Commonwealth games in Glasgow.
