Penniless Colada

Ingredients:
Malibu
Pineapple Juice

A poor man’s twist on the pina colada, this cheaper alternative tastes just as a good, even with fewer ingredients. Malibu already has the essential coconut-y taste, so there’s really no point in wasting potential Willow-shots-money on unnecessary cocktail components! If you’re feeling generous, you can even pop a few maraschino cherries in the glass to make it look like you’ve actually made an effort. Or not. Whatever.

Milky Kid

Ingredients:
Baileys
Milk

Tried the ‘Milky Bar Kid’ in Dusk? It’s a famous concoction and a fundamental part of student life for many. You can easily recreate this at home using low-cost ingredients, the only difference being a lack of Kahlua (feel free to add this if you really want to push the boat out). If you can get your hands on a cheaper alternative to Baileys, go for it. To prepare, pour a generous amount of Baileys over ice, add the milk and stir. Dust with chocolate powder for a true Dusk effect.

Salty Dog

Ingredients:
Gin
Grapefruit Juice
Salt

This one is seldom found on cocktail menus in the UK, but is popular in the US. In cocktail making, a little goes a long way. The combination of gin and grapefruit juice takes cheap ingredients to create a big flavour. The potency of the gin and the bitterness of the grapefruit will create a strong tasting cocktail worth more than the sum of its parts. To make this simple combination stand out, add a little flair by salting the rim of a hi-ball.
