Essential Make Up Looks

The Perfect Daytime Look

Step 1:

Apply a light dusting of bronzer along your cheekbones followed by a bright blusher on the apples of your cheeks, making sure to blend well.

Step 2:

Make sure you first apply a layer of primer onto your eyelids. Next, apply a matte white eyeshadow all over the eyelids, focusing especially on the corner of your eyes to make them appear bright. (Great for hiding tiredness!)

Step 3:

Take a medium gold-brown tone and apply it to the centre of your eyelids, blending with the white tone. Combine this with a slightly darker (matt) brown in the corner of your eye and along the waterline (a great palette for earthy tones is Naked Palette by Urban Decay). Finish with a thin line of eyeliner along your top lid, and apply a light coat of mascara.

Step 4:

Finally apply a bright lipstick – an orange or pink hue will look good. Top with a similar colour of lipgloss, or some Vaseline, to make your lips shine.

Night-out Ready Smokey Eye

Step 1:

After priming your eyelids, apply a generous amount of white eyeshadow over your whole lid – a sparkly shadow will look especially good on the corners of your eyes.

Step 2:

Apply a medium grey tone from the centre of the eye, making sure there is a dark-light gradient moving towards the corner. Next, apply a darker tone in the opposite direction – making sure to blend well. Finally, apply a black shadow to the outer corners of the top lid.

Step 3:

Apply a good amount of bronzer to define your cheek bones, with a touch of blusher to the apples of your cheeks, and blend the two.

Step 4:

Using a liquid eyeliner pen draw a thin line on the top eyelid, going from the corner to the outer edge of the eye. Finish with a generous amount of mascara.

Emerald Glamour

Step 1:

Blend two warm brown tones over the top eyelid, going from light to darker, from the corner to the edge of the eye.

Step 2:

Choose an emerald green colour – preferably a sparkly tone – and apply in thin layers from the middle to the outer edge of the eye, adding to the waterline as well. The colour can be adapted to your eye colour, making sure your eyes pop. Finish off the eyes with a generous amount of mascara.

Step 3:

Apply bronzer and blusher to the cheeks. Use a highlighter on the top of the cheekbones and on the nose to create a glowing look (we love Benefit’s ‘Girl Meets Pearl’).

Step 4:

Use a bright red lipstick and apply all over the lips. If you want your lips to look particularly defined, use a lip liner, a couple of shades darker.
