Named after Thomas Wentworth, the First Earl of Stafford in the 15th and 16th centuries, age and maturity are attributes that have come to characterise Wentworth College. After 30 years as a normal university college it was decided that Wentworth would become the University’s first graduate-only college. With this change in resident population came a change in accommodation, with most of the flats being built in 2002 or after. Possibly because of its graduate residents the college maintains a serene atmosphere on the edge of campus and perched by the lake, infamous for its quiet nature and international student population.
The stats: Rent prices vary hugely, between £90 – £124 with studio flats priced at £149. Lets are for 51 weeks of the year.

1. Why did you pick your college?
It’s the only postgrad college so it picked me really.
2. What’re its distinguishing features?
The big curvy building with beautiful views of the lake. A huge population of waterfowl which keeps you company when you’re working on that paper at 4am.
3. What’s the accommodation like?
Pricey but worth it for its quality and location. There are 6 ensuite rooms to each flat.
4. Sum up your college in 3 words.
Big curvy building.
5. Best thing about the college?
The endlessly interesting people I’ve met over the course of the year. I was lucky enough to live in a very int’l flat with flatmates from Hawaii, Pakistan, Jordan, China and Canada. Excellent flat dinners and conversations.
6. Worst thing about the college?
My experience seems to be rare, there’s otherwise a lack of overall community and diversity.
7. Describe a typical student in your college.
Studious
8. College member most likely to say:
No idea, but statistically speaking most likely to be in an Asian language
9. College member least likely to say:
Where did all the ducks go?
10. What do you wish you had known as a fresher?
An active social life and good grades are not mutually exclusive concepts.
11. What is your biggest freshers memory/regret?
That one time I saved a duckling from being eaten by a fox, except I didn’t and the fox ate it.
