College Netball: James 15-13 Goodricke

James finished victorious in a nail-biting clash with Goodricke.

Consistent shooting, by both James and Goodricke, dominated this game, in which both teams displayed a high level of skill. However, it was James’s GS, Rachel Bunce, who, by rarely missing a shot, ensured that James were to secure three points.

Neither team managed to break away in the first quarter, with both teams only managing to go one ahead of their rivals. Despite the efforts of the James defence, most notably Poppy Bullard, the Goodricke shooters continued to score goals at considerable ease.

The centre court play was dominated by Jade Naylor who managed to intercept two accurate passes, one of which ended in a crucial James goal.

As the first quarter ended 7-7, this game could have gone either way.

At the start of the second quarter, Rachel Bunce, provided James with a two goal lead in the first two minutes, which was to dominate much of the quarter.

However, Goodricke persisted in their unrelenting spirit and James were not handed an easy win. Despite the efforts of the James defence, which had been strong in the first quarter, both Kav Aggarwal and Sarah Lane continued to put them under pressure, and in the last minute, the game was at a tie.

It was James’s GD, Poppy Bullard, who overturned the game with an impressive interception. After this, James regained their momentum, and the game ended 15-13 to James.
