Chris Edwards & Sanchita Chawla
Chris Edwards, current Ents Officer, is running again – this time with the comparatively inexperienced Sanchita Chawla, in an uncontested contest (minus the ubiquitous RON).
Edwards year in office has been fairly successful. Despite the ever-present groans about the two big YUSU events – the Summer Ball and Live and Loud – they were both considered to have been much improved on previous years; the N’Dubz failure to show at the Ball and the crammed and inaccessible Marina and the Diamonds concert at 2010’s Fresher’s ‘Big Bang’ being case in points.
He has pledged to learn from his mistakes and continue to build on YUSU events, with much of his experience being drawn from what he has learnt in his year in the role and from his time on the Halifax JCRC as Ents Officer. His running partner, Chawla, claims “intensive industry experience”, and although offers no elected experience at York, was part of the student council during her time at the University of Toronto and highlights her understanding of the “details and intricacies of the event planning”.
Despite little policy substance to the manifesto, the experience is notable, and it seems unlikely RON will outdo this pair.
