Cross and Dilks want to ensure that students get the most out of their university experience, particularly considering the fee rise. They chose to combine their experience to run together, having prepared for the role of YUSU Campaigns Officer through “lots of experience running campaigns on all scales… from JCRC to NUS!”
If elected, they aim to make campaigns and their associated committees more accessible to all students, with additional training and workshops directed at the committee and other student activists. They state that their primary aim is to ensure that YUSU campaigns and their committees are more accessible to students at the University.
Similar to the student vote for RAG charities, Cross and Dilks also want to introduce voting for the campaigns that best reflect the student body. They state, “you’ll get the chance to vote on the campaign that matters the most to you.”
Peter Hollingsworth
Second year Social and Political Science student Hollingsworth has previous experience as a member of the YUSU Campaigns Committee and of holding a society position as a Campaigns and Policy Officer. He is particularly interested in the current Living Wage Campaign and aims to focus on campaigns that help to strengthen YUSU and which aid student welfare.
Hollingsworth, if elected, would like to increase the number of people able to get involved. He is keen to make the Campaigns committee a more inclusive environment enabling many different voices to be heard and would also like to create a ‘campaign hub’ at Vanbrugh stalls. Hollingsworth would also consider Campaign Workshops and productive techniques like banner-making sessions and guerrilla style campaigns, where appropriate.
He believes that he is suited to the position due to his commitment and care towards campaigning issues.
