Students have been warned to expect travel delays after a second water main burst in less than 24 hours.
The Unibus, which serves students between the Heslington West and Heslington East campuses, warned of potential delays following the 12-inch pipe rupture where Hull Road meets Lawrence Street on the A1079 in the early hours of the morning.
A statement posted via the Number 44’s Facebook page read: “Possible delays this morning due to a burst water main on Hull Rd.”
Operator First Bus has also warned of disruption to numbers 4 and 6.
In addition, Green Dykes Lane and Melrosegate have been closed whilst Hull Road is down to one lane while emergency repair work is carried out.
Hundreds of homes in the surrounding area are without water or with low water pressure.
A spokesperson for Yorkshire Water has apologised for the inconvenience and is expecting repairs to be completed in time for tonight’s rush hour.
A 15-inch water main burst under Lead Mill Lane in York city centre yesterday.
