The man who served as head doorman at one of York’s most popular clubs has been jailed after being exposed as a drug dealer.
Jonathan Arundale, 42, previously held the lead bouncer position at Gallery, the student club of choice for Thursdays and Sundays, but is now facing a six year prison sentence after police found that he had an estimated £20,000 of cocaine in his possession.
Detectives stopped Arundale in August 2008 as he drove through Tadcaster on the way home from Leeds. They found the 243 grams of cocaine in a bag under the passenger seat.
According to the police, had the drugs only been cut once, there still would have been enough to make at least half a kilo of Class A drugs that could have hit the streets of York.
When police raided the man’s Bishopthorpe home, traces of cocaine on a set of scales and packaging equipment, including a hydraulic press, were discovered.
Despite all the evidence, Arundale denied possessing cocaine with intent to supply but was found guilty by a jury at Leeds Crown Court regardless.
