We at Vision love a bit of a row.

However, this one was different. A weary traveller had her day brightened when she spotted the University of York Boat Club doing a 24 hour row to raise funds for their team, which has increased fivefold since the UK’s success in the 2012 Olympics.

They are trying to buy a new trailer, and a single scull boat for the women’s team, because of this membership increase and so they can compete at a higher level.

When the team (pictured) were snapped, they had been rowing for 18 hours on a rowing machine at the entrance to the City Station, and had 6 hours to go.

As you can see, he wasn’t even breaking a sweat.

The Boat Club is aiming to raise £6000, and funds are currently at £3477 according to their YUStart page and all the money raised will go towards helping them compete in the next level, and to take more crews to Regattas and GB trials.

The hardy team are documenting their row on their Facebook page.

One passer-by commented: “I thought that I was having a difficult time with my bags, however seeing the team row for 24 hours straight made me feel positively well-rested and unburdened.”

“I wish the team luck and hope they make their target.”
