As it happened: College Cup draw 2013

1Welcome to Vision’s live blog of the 2013 college cup draw! This year is the first time that all eight colleges entered three teams into the cup. It also sees the introduction of the Vase competition, which sees the top four 4ths teams given the chance to compete with the teams who finish 5th in the group stage.

28 teams waited to learn their fate in YourSpace: All 1sts, 2nds and 3rds teams were drawn into four groups of six. No group may contain two teams representing the same college, and exactly two teams from each level will be drawn in each group.

2013 will see Vanbrugh 1sts aim to defend their college cup title, after defeating Halifax 1sts on penalties in last year’s final. Halifax will be aiming for revenge, with 1sts teams from James and Derwent also likely to be thereabouts come the knock-out rounds. Wentworth 1sts will be aiming to build upon their first ever college football triumph from the spring term league.

Meanwhile, a number of 2nds teams will look to cause an upset by reaching the knock-out rounds of the cup, and will be hoping for a favourable draw to assist in that. Wentworth 2nds are the defending plate champions. The full draw is below.
