The campaign videos from the prospective York Sport Prez candidates has taken campus by storm(zy) this year.
Three of the four candidates have been displaying their proficiency in online video production on their Facebook campaign pages in an attempt to prove their suitability for the role.
After the initial offerings, one candidate, Isaac Beevor has tried to outdo the competition with a 'Fire in the Lake' parody of Stormzy's 'Shut up' freestyle. Filmed in the Vanbrugh underpass, it features roadman garms and Beevor spitting bars calling the student population to vote for him.

We've already had James College's Beth Cash's 'Fight Song' parody which has over 9,000 views on YouTube and it is all campus is talking about. Students are undecided as to whether the awful/greatness of it is intentional.
Third year Derwenter Isaac Beevor's initial cinematic attempt is slightly more tuneful and lyrically competent than 'Campaign Song', but it is unlikely that Adele will be kept up at night by it.

Vanbrugh History student Stephen Bates' lack of singing does not bode well considering the vocal wizardry of his competition. However, he has released a suited and booted dance video, but with his shirt untucked so that you know he likes to party too, where he chucks a load of sport equipment around to show you that he is totally electable.
The fourth candidate, UoY Boxing President Aaron Dougherty, has not yet released a campaign video. Although if he did, I doubt it would be subjected to the same critique as the rest due to the imagined size and concrete-ness of his fists.
Stormzy has been contacted to find out if this video will influence how he will vote in the upcoming YUSU elections.
